Table Mountain! We were a little worried about whether the weather during the group’s Cape Town stay would allow us to go up Table Mountain (a function of cloud cover and wind speed). Thus when there seemed to be a weather window for Monday morning we scheduled being at the lower cableway station a little ahead of opening time. It worked out perfectly.
Ascending Table Mountain is a must-do item for any first time visitor to Cape Town. In fact many Capetonians do the outing at least once a year while others regularly walk one-way and take the cable car in the other direction.
In the photograph our cable car is arriving to pick us up. While the purpose of visiting the mountain is to hike along the myriad of trails on top of the mountain, the cable car journey is a treat in its own right.
