FooCapture is an Awesome Screenshot Chrome Extension for WordPress Users – http://foomedia.io
Capture, Annotate, Optimize and Upload Screenshots to any WordPress Website.
Screenshots are a necessary part of the web publishing experience and are utilized by millions of people. FooCapture is a free Chrome browser extension and we’d like you to give it a try.
WordPress connections require optional subscription.
A Focus on Users, Security, and Direct Media Uploads to WordPress
From the beginning our focus has been to integrate a full featured screenshot tool as tightly as possible with the WordPress publishing experience, while still offering rock solid security.
This includes both WordPress.com and self-hosted WordPress.org sites.
We consider ourselves lucky with the timing of our FooCapture development as it coincided with the enhancements being made to the WP API. In fact, we were in direct contact with several of the team working on the WP API and continue to follow development closely.
Capture. Annotate. Optimize and Upload Directly to WordPress Media Library
Before FooCapture, the process of taking screenshots and using them in your WordPress site was a real pain point.
We believe we’ve solved this pain point.
Further, we believe that this pain point exists for millions of other WordPress publishers and content creators.
We created FooCapture to streamline this entire process. For you, for us, and for millions of others.
The History of FooCapture
It all began with the frustration of WordPress blog posts taking too much time to finish. Specifically, posts that contained image media, were tutorial in nature and were dependent on screenshot images.
The OLD WAY of Creating a Blog Post Using Screenshots
The old process of capturing part of your screen and using that image in your post involves too many steps and wastes your valuable time.
1. Capture an image using your built-in Mac or PC screenshot method or use a 3rd party browser extension or standalone software product to capture your screen.
2. Download that image to your local computer
3. Open that screenshot in your favorite image editing tool
4. Add text, arrows, or whatever other visual marker that enhances what is seen in that image
5. Edit your post and use the WordPress Add Media tool to upload these images to your Media Library
6. Edit the Title, Caption, Alt Text and Descriptions to make sure your images are search engine optimized
7. Insert each image into your post in the appropriate spot for your tutorial
Whew. What a process! That is a lot of time spent making sure your screen capture images are edited and optimized as best they can be.
Searching for the Right Tool
I searched high and low for a media tool that would allow me to take a screenshot, add the visual markup I needed, edit the image meta data, and then upload that image directly to my WordPress powered website.
I tried dozens of standalone screen capture software tools and many browser extensions, both for Firefox and Chrome.
None of them had all the features I was hoping to find, and only one claimed to offer the ability to connect to a WordPress site in order to upload your captured image, but that was outdated by several years and used an insecure method of sharing your Administrator credentials via XML-RPC.
FooMedia.io is the Result
FooMedia.io will encompass several brand new media tools for WordPress.
These tools are being developed to make your blogging and content creation process faster, simpler, and more advanced than any other tools that currently exist.
The first of these tools id FooCapture and we hope you give it a try.
