Grapevine Wine Tasting – Syrah – a Africa interest event taking place on 2018-03-14 19:00:00 in United States
Grapevine Friends- Let's taste Syrah! The Grapevine hasn't tasted it since March of 2012. Jancis Robinson deems it to be "one of the noblest and most fashionable red wine grapes." Why have we neglected it? The next Grapevine wine tasting will take place on Wednesday, March 14th, at 7pm. Reservations are necessary, and they must be made by noon on Friday, March 9th. You may make your reservations here. Each attendee (not each couple) will bring a bottle of Syrah. The bottle may be 100% Syrah or a blend with Syrah being at least 50% of its makeup. It may be of any vintage, price, or provenance of your choosing. Berkeley City Club members pay Eventbrite , and guests pay . Syrah was probably grown first in France where it is an important ingredient in Northern and Southern Rhone Valley blends. Great Syrah is now vinified in Australia and Sourh Africa, where it is known as Shiraz. Washington State makes very good Syrah. So do our own Rhone Rangers in California, and good Syrah can be found in Chile and Argentina. So, start your engines. Why not try a Chilean Syrah? Do a little research. Find a favorite, and we'll see you on March 14th. Cheers, Emmett
