Autism Intervener Certifiate Course

Autism Intervener Certifiate Course – a Africa interest event taking place on 2018-01-27 10:00:00 in Ireland

This is a certificate course (15  instructional hours) Participants will gain a comprehensive overview of working with individuals on the Autism Spectrum.    The course is  split into 3 one day sessions  on the following Saturdays – January 27th,  February 17th & March 24th 2018 from 10.00am – 4.00pm The course will cover the following topics: Understanding the Autism Spectrum Disorders, Learning Styles and Neurological Impacts, Social and Emotional Issues related to autism, Sensory Issues and their impact on the individual, Anxiety and Self-esteem issues related to the individual Behavioural impacts within autism. An overview of current intervention techniques. The aim of the course is to allow for participants to become more confident in dealing with issues that their child or student with ASD present with.  Participants will be required to take assignment away with them to complete before the last session. The 6 practically based assignments will enhance the work/lives that the participants are already engaged in and will support course content.  The course has been delivered in the past to teachers, special needs assistants, senior management, parents, speech therapists, occupational therapists, care staff, clinical psychologists,  To receive certification – all sessions need to be attended and all 6 assignments completed. The course is delivered by…  Kevin Baskerville – KB Autism Services + Autism Outreach Service (Intensive Support – Manager), Leicestershire LEA –  Kevin has been involved in the field of Autism for over 20 years – as a teaching assistant, teacher (Australia, Birmingham, Kuwait, Warwickshire & Leicestershire), consultant (Geneva Centre for Autism, Toronto www.autism.net) – he has presented workshops on a variety of subjects related to ASD – across Canada, US, South Africa, Ireland & UK – he has developed this course to encapsulate presentations & to make it practical to help parents & practitioners As places are limited to 25 so early booking is advised Participants must attend ALL sessions to complete the course
