6-Month Part-Time Programme

6-Month Part-Time Programme – a Africa interest event taking place on 2016-08-22 09:30:00 in South Africa

Starting this coming July 2016, Orms Cape Town School of Photography will be running, for the first time, a comprehensive 6-month part-time course in Digital Photography.

This course is designed with an emphasis on technical skill. Course material in the first term (18 July – 16 September) will be dedicated to providing students with a foundation in digital photography, business acumen, post production in both Lightroom and Photoshop and the development of their own website. In the second term, (26 September – 25 November) we will further extend introductory foundation skills into the studio (looking at portraiture, food, product and fashion photography); whilst learning how to video on a DSLR camera and edit footage into a short film. We will also further extend our camera work to include an exploration of established photographic areas: architecture, interiors, sports, and events. Work produced throughout the course of this term will culminate in a portfolio, presented both online and printed in book format.

Students will be encouraged to submit work for exhibition purposes, mid-course, 29thSeptember 2016, as well as at the end of your course, in conjunction with our Orms Cape Town School of Photography end-of-year show, 06th December 2016.

Students who are enrolled for this course will be eligible to sit in on other part-time courses hosted by Orms Cape Town School of Photography throughout the duration of their study, depending on student numbers for those courses and by prior arrangement with the administrative staff and part-time course co-ordinator. To further extend their learning at Orms Cape Town School of Photography, students will be encouraged to attend all our lunch time lectures, special events and will be expected to participate in the relevant exhibitions. Students wanting to enrol for our creative and documentary photography courses during their part-time studies will qualify for a 15 % discount on those courses.

All Orms Cape Town School of Photography students receive a 15% discount on photobooks and the printing & framing of their coursework at Orms on presentation of the student cards when work is handed in at Orms for any of these services. This discount is only applicable for the duration shown on the student card.

Please note – costs cover tuition and course notes. Printing costs with regard to weekly projects, exhibition submissions and portfolios are the responsibility of the student.
