Wine expert avoids police investigation into thefts with bizarre deal:

A wine expert who pilfered up to $ 300,000 worth of stock from Melbourne wholesaler CellarHand will avoid a police investigation after agreeing to an extraordinary deal with his former employer and friend. Lak Quach, 40, a former sommelier, vintner and reviewer for the prestigious Halliday Wine Companion, has admitted to stealing hundreds of bottles of fine wine from CellarHand since he was employed as a specialist buyer in 2011.
