Universal Packaging has expanded its Canadian gravure printing operations in Vancouver with the CERUFLEX 500 in 2026. Earlier equipment included the BOBST NOVA RS 5002 in 2024 and the previous CERUFLEX gravure models in 2025. The latest model features printing speeds of up to 500 metres per minute, shaftless cylinders, intelligent inking, and fast job changeovers. Compatibility is specified for film, laminates, and paper, with solvent- or water-based inks. Additional printing equipment in Vancouver includes Uteco ONYX and Comexi FW, while a location in Mississauga is planned soon according to operational requirements.
Danial James, Managing Director of Universal Packaging, says, “Our continued expansion across Canada brings us closer to customers, with advanced printing technology supporting flexible packaging solutions and ongoing growth,”. William Crooks, designer at Universal Packaging, said, “The upgraded digital printing process is designed for greater consistency in presentation across formats.” The Vancouver team is expected to contribute to the reputation of the brand through consistent printing standards, refined presentation of the product, and wider access to packaging solutions throughout Canadian markets. As Mayor Carolyn Parrish said, “The world is changing fast, demanding bold action and fresh thinking.” This commitment reflects the need for practical innovation and more efficient packaging solutions as industry demands continue to evolve.
