Think Tank Presents: Shackleton w/ Memotone & Zoe Pea – a Music interest event taking place on 2020-03-29 19:00:00 in United Kingdom
Line-up /
After our wonderful collaboration with the Plant Lìfe crew in January, we thought we’d bring you something truly exceptional for our first stand-alone event of 2020!
This one’s been a long time coming.
LINEUP:
SHACKLETON
It is truly an honour and a privilege to welcome the one and only Shackleton to Think Tank.
Since rising to prominence during the early days of Dubstep, and garnering a reputation for his now legendary Skull Disco label (and more recently, his Woe to the Septic Heart imprint), Shackleton has developed into nothing if not a completely singular artist, with an instantly recognisable style that refuses to be pigeon holed by the limitations of genre.
In describing his music, one might be tempted to stray down the rabbit hole of name checking the various elements that make it so unique, but any attempt to do so would in no way do justice to what makes a Shackleton set so special.
The simple fact is, that what Shackleton offers to audiences is so much more profound than the vast majority of club experiences.
As an artist, he is completely unmatched in drawing upon the darker side of the human condition, twisting our collective existential anxiety, grief and nihilism into something worth celebrating through the defiance of the dance floor.
This quality can also be found in his more subdued moments, with releases such as ‘Music for the Quiet Hour’ and ‘Sferic Ghost Transmits’ relying equally as much upon spoken word and intricate textures, as his more energetic work does on cavernous sub frequencies and frenetic polyrhythms.
And now, for his debut Think Tank appearance, Shackleton will be performing 75 minutes of brand new, completely original Ambient/Drone music, composed especially for the unique setting of this event.
Excited isn’t the word – we’re ready if you are.

MEMOTONE
After his stunning set at our first birthday event back in 2018, we are so pleased to invite memotone back to the Tank!
With a string of releases on Black Acre, and collaborations that include the likes of Phaeleh and Dmitry Evgrafov, Memotone’s artistic career has continued to grow from strength to strength, culminating with his fantastic forthcoming LP, Twin Cities, which is set to be released in early March via Diskotopia.
A prolific multi-instrumentalist, Memotone truly excels in crafting highly detailed and immersive live experiences, effortlessly combining Ambient, Dub, Jazz and Classical into a sound that is completely his own.

ZOE PEA
Anyone even remotely familiar with the Leeds scene will know that ‘Strength in Free Space’ founder Zoe Pea is one of the more eclectic and inspiring selectors to have emerged over the past few years.
Two years ago, she provided us with one of our all time favourite DJ sets for the first ‘Think Tank X Plantlife’ collaboration, and has since gone on to gain a residency at Limbo Radio, representing the wonderful Equaliser collective.
With a patient and methodical approach to her craft, Zoe Pea’s attention to detail when it comes to curating music is practically unrivalled, resulting in sets that are as thoughtful as they are emotionally resonant.
