Sherry Whetstone, internationally known quilter, discovers art in everything around her. She uses a variety of interesting materials in her quilts to surprise and delight viewers. Several of her pieces have appeared in books and venues around the world including the Smithsonian, Renwick Gallery, American Craft Museum, in Tanzania, South Africa, and at various locations across Kansas City.
Join Sherry Whetstone as she discusses the techniques and materials used in her quilts. Whetstone will feature one of her newest quilts, which she created in memory of her son who passed away from cancer. Viewers will be surprised and delighted by the range of materials included in her quilts.
The Quilts of Sherry Whetstone will be on display in the Liberty Art Gallery from October 1 to November 25, 2018. This program is co-sponsored by the Liberty Arts Commission and the Liberty Branch of the Mid-Continent Public Library.
