Ready to bun it up? We have put together the following recipe ideas for zero-fuss, maximum flavour:
The Classic Smash Burger
- 500g lean beef mince
- Salt, pepper, and a touch of garlic powder
- 4 Sunbake Sourdough Buns, split and toasted
- 4 slices of cheddar cheese
- Lettuce, tomato, and onion slices
- Burger sauce or light mayo
How to make it
Shape your mince into balls, then smash them flat on a hot pan for that crispy edge. Season well and melt cheese on top as they cook. Toast your buns, layer with lettuce, tomato, and onion, then stack your juicy patties. Add your favourite sauce, pop the top bun on, and get ready for some messy, mouth-watering magic.
Cajun Prawn Rolls
- 500g prawns, peeled and deveined
- 1½ tsp Cajun spice
- 2 tbsp mayo + 1 tbsp Greek yoghurt
- Squeeze of lemon
- Fresh parsley or chives
- Lettuce leaves
How to make it
Toss prawns in Cajun spice and sear them for a few minutes until golden and fragrant. Mix mayo, yoghurt, lemon juice, and herbs for a creamy dressing. Combine and pile high into toasted sourdough buns with crisp lettuce.
Slow-Cooked Beef and Slaw Buns
- 500g pulled beef or leftover roast
- ½ cup BBQ sauce
- 2 cups coleslaw (ready-made or homemade with cabbage, carrots, and yoghurt-mayo dressing)
- Sunbake Sourdough Buns
How to make it
Warm your beef with BBQ sauce until rich and saucy. Toast your buns, load up with the beef, and top with crunchy coleslaw. The tangy slaw balances the rich beef perfectly, making it a tasty hit for lunch at the office.
Melted Cheese and Tomato Soup Dunkers
- Slices of mozzarella or cheddar
- Butter
- Fresh tomato soup (store-bought or homemade)
- Sunbake Sourdough Buns
How to make it
Butter your buns, fill with cheese, and toast in a pan until golden. Serve with a warm bowl of tomato soup for dipping. It’s the ultimate comfort dinner!
For a wellness-friendly twist, pack your buns with grilled veggies, eggs, avocado, or lean protein. Traditionally, naturally fermented and gut-friendly, many people find sourdough easier to digest, and it may support gut health, even after breakfast, lunch and dinner.
