  1. She is 12 year old dancer. She not a prostitute. So annoyed with these
    saying it is sexualizing. It’s not there are doing anything that would be
    call sexual. There is not crude acts. There is a movie called the orphan
    where a woman escapes a mental institution and pretends to me 9 year old
    Russian girl. The actress was none the less a child. She had to seduced the
    father in the movie. That more creepy. This is purely a dance that tells a
    story or just to go with the song. It is also inappropriate for people to
    be talking about this child like that. It also very disrespectful to this
    girl. Think about actual children who actually have to go through child
    trafficking. People who actually serve this kind of trauma. ?

  3. Watching the video with the music low actually started to make me cry. I
    really see a volatile relationship between a father and daughter. It’s
    obvious he suffers from anger problems, bipolarity, or something along
    those lines. It’s stressful and can be violent, but despite that, there’s
    good memories where he’s actually being a father to her; at least trying to
    reconcile.

    3:31 onward was kind of painful. He’s become more gentle, but can’t escape
    from his problem, even though he wants to, and it’s hard on them both. She
    wants her father and he wants to be what she needs and to be free. He ends
    up giving up because he has to live with it(or so he thinks), but she can’t
    accept that/wants him to keep trying.

    It doesn’t match with the song, really, but that’s what this video looks
    like to me.?

    more savage: the angered innocence of an animal (or a child) or the rage of
    the angry man. Their skin-tone dirty clothing portrays them at the same
    level. In the end, it’s the man who’s unable to escape into innocence, and
    the child wondering why he can’t be free of his chains. While nature can be
    savage, only man can be as savage as gladiator matches of Rome, or the
    Hunger Games – the movie this song was originally written for.
    My Take:
    The meaning of Elastic Heart goes both ways. First, Sia claims you did not
    break me. On the other hand, she says I trust no one, I may snap, I can’t
    survive. She’s fought, she’s beaten her ex (another one bites the dust),
    but she still asks herself, why can I not conquer love. How will she find
    love again if she makes herself impenetrable? Love means an open heart, not
    a thick skin and an elastic heart. Like Katniss Everdeen in the movie,
    fighting for peace doesn’t bring peace. Love is being open, not being
    elastic. Peace isn’t beating the other person, it’s finding someone to
    share your heart with.?

    sexual about this, I am struggling to understand the meaning behind this
    song though. All I can figure out is that one of them is trapped; can
    someone tell me what this music video is about, thanks. This video is so
    intriguing and Sia’s voice is heavenly beautiful <3?

  14. The people saying this is wrong and or gross are absolutely idiotic people.
    Open your eyes and get some good taste in music and videos like this. This
    is art and a stunning portray of a story. This isn’t some girl shaking her
    butt this is dance real dance and if you can’t understand that there is
    nothing wrong with this then stop watching it because it is amazing and so
    is Sia’s song.?

  15. My take on this, and I’m just guessing you see, is that the father is
    trying desperately to reach out to his child (who isn’t ready to trust or
    love ) they fight, argue and through it all find common ground. The child
    learns to trust and love a little too late. The father perishes in the
    prison of his own heart. If that’s not the base of the artistic performance
    I’m sorry. It’s a beautiful song and amazing choreography. ?

  18. Though I do see how this would look like Shia Lebouf is playing a
    pedophile, I do feel as though this video is basically like a sequel to
    Chandelier and, like the horror movie Mama, after the parents died and/or
    abandoned Sia (as portrayed by Maddie Ziegler), she became like a wild
    animal and the man Shia is playing (I’m just going to call the character
    Billybob cause I want to) is sent inside the cage where she is kept
    (probably representing insanity and Billybob is like a therapist or
    something) to tame her. At first she still acts like a wild animal (again
    probably representing her insanity or something) but then she grows to care
    for Billybob and when she gets out of her cage almost acting like a human
    she sees Billybob is trapped in there she tries her best to get him out
    but can’t. Now that’s just my theory and I could be wrong but that’s just
    how I feel. I really like this song ever since I first heard it on Songza
    and was generally pleased with this video and the mystery behind it. Great
    job Sia. To many more.?

  25. Does anyone else see the point of view change at 3:16?
    To me, it looks like Shia LaBeouf is playing a father with some sort of
    mental problems who sees his daughter as some sort of monster attacking
    him. But at 3:16 when she re-enters the cage I feel like you see the
    daughters point of view, where she’s trying to help him get out of the cage
    rather than tormenting him and mocking him as she escapes.
