Scoring a Motion Picture
Scott Hallgren Bio
Scott Hallgren is a composer, arranger, and producer who has recently moved to the Akron/Cleveland area.
Over the last decade, Scott’s scores have served an extensive and diverse group of independent films, and have received critical acclaim. Of note, Sith’D, a short Star Wars spoof, won Best Comedy at Comic-Con (2006); Gracie: The Diary of a Coma Patient (2007) won a Silver Medal for Music Excellence at the Park City Film Music Festival; and the mid-South Emmy-nominated We Shall Not Be Moved: The Nashville Sit-Ins (2011) which also won him both a Silver Telly & Golden CINE Award. His music has also been featured on the movie soundtracks of Smart People, Eat With Me, London Tango, and Paul Williams – Still Alive. Recently, 2017’s Perfect 36: When Women Won The Vote enjoys continued airing on American Public Television.
An early interest in music and film led to him to study both at the University of Miami (Florida). After graduation, Scott relocated to Nashville, and ultimately served as Donna Summer’s musical director and pianist. He also toured with Margaret Becker, The Wilkinsons, and Fernando Ortega, after a stint in Steve Wariner’s band. He has traveled to over a dozen countries on four continents, performing on concert stage and broadcast, supporting other artists such as: Sir Elton John, Aaron Neville, Andrae Crouch, Gloria Estefan, Ricky Skaggs, Eddy Arnold, Brian Littrell (of Backstreet Boys), David Foster, Larry Gatlin, Jaimee Paul, and Marc Antony. Scott’s varied talents as an arranger, composer and performer have also been featured on numerous albums by artists like: Donna Summer, the history & genre spanning This Is My America (Various Artists), new age artist Seay, and Texas guitar hero Monte Montgomery.
The goal of the Cleveland Stories Dinner Party is to bring to life some of the fun, interesting stories about Cleveland’s past – from sports, to rock ‘n roll, to Millionaire’s Row, — the series will focus on tidbits from Cleveland’s past that will really thrill the audience. The Music Box is presenting this series in partnership with the Western Reserve Historical Society’s new Cleveland History Center. We think the Cleveland History Center is one of the most important museums in Cleveland. An unknown gem that Clevelanders should know more about, and support. It is the only museum in Cleveland dedicated to preserving and documenting the history of Cleveland. The Cleveland History Center includes two mansions, the Crawford Auto Aviation Museum, Chisholm Halle Costume Wing, Research Library, Kidzibits Hands-On Gallery, rotating exhibitions, and the Euclid Beach Park Grand Carousel.
