SA’s ground breaker in transport and entrepreneurship:
RentMyRide is economically and socially empowering locals across the country by being South Africa’s first peer to peer car sharing platform, making it accessible and manageable for everyone. To draw a comparison, they are the Airbnb for cars.
Today’s fast paced life creates an aversion to queues, laborious paper work and leaves us wanting more convenience, a hassle free experience and speedy, professional service. RentMyRide has created this by allowing you to rent your local’s car!
RMR gives vehicle owners the opportunity to use their car as a low touch small business with return on investment, they offer a cheaper rate and deposit than the conventional car rental companies. Background screening takes place prior to confirmation and with R10 million liability cover, there is complete peace of mind.
The pioneers behind this concept and brainchild are none other than the South African and Dutch team, CEO, Peter Puren and Managing Director, Sebastian Brokmann and Frank van Driel. They are turning this startup into a national success.
Peter worked for AVIS car rental in the UK and managed Bidvest car rental which allowed him to cultivate a wealth of knowledge and experience and gave him the opportunity to offer this innovative service since 2014.
Sebastian is an impact entrepreneur from the Netherlands, who founded Fruitful Office NL which he managed to grow towards a market leading company, serving fresh fruit to over 100 000 residents weekly and now implementing the same success here in South Africa. Sebastian believes that the RMR platform facilitates entrepreneurial spirit in Africa. Frank van Driel, an internet entrepreneur from the Netherlands, was one of the founders of Budget Energie – specialists in renewable energy, reaching a turnover of 400 million euro. This trio, with such a diverse set of skills and experience is quickly making a name for themselves in the startup realm.
RentMyRide as a growing sector has filled a gap in the market, where anyone from a young professional to a retired resident, can supplement or utilise it as their main source of income. Holiday goers can save by having better rates on rentals as well as generate income.
RMR is also focusing on growth opportunities which could deliver significant gross domestic product (GDP) growth, create jobs and confound a rising sense of pessimism about South Africa’s future.
