Revolutionising Gastrointestinal Care: Austell Pharmaceuticals Launches Tasectan Duo, South Africa’s First Dual-Action Diarrhoea Treatment

31 July, Johannesburg – Austell Pharmaceuticals has recently announced the launch of its latest product, Tasectan Duo, an innovative solution for the treatment of diarrhoea. This first-of-its-kind treatment in South Africa brings together the clinically proven anti-diarrhoeal effects of Tasectan with the balancing power of probiotics, creating a combined solution to a common but serious illness.

There are several causes of diarrhoea including antibiotic use, viral infections, bacterial infections, digestive disorders, and more. An imbalance in the gut flora, or bacterial imbalance, is another common cause and symptom of diarrhoea.

This imbalance is referred to as dysbiosis. Dysbiosis is challenging as it can be both a symptom and a cause of diarrhoea. When you have diarrhoea, the additional watery bowel movements can flush out the good bacteria from your gut, creating an imbalance. This imbalance, which can also arise due to diet or antibiotic use, can in turn result in diarrhoea, causing a vicious cycle.

This is why many medical practitioners prescribe probiotics alongside anti-diarrhoeal medication to replace the bacteria lost during a diarrhoea episode. Until now, this has been a practice that has meant that patients need to buy and take two separate medications. Although effective, this can prove to be costly.

The launch of Tasectan Duo in the South African market offers both health practitioners and consumers a single solution to this problem, reducing costs for consumers and simplifying the treatment of diarrhoea.

Tasectan Duo also offers a unique safety proposition thanks to the key ingredient, Gelatine Tannate’s, mode of action. Unlike other treatment options, Gelatine Tannate creates a protective film in the gut, relieving inflammation and preventing bad bacteria and viruses from entering the intestinal cells, treating the problem at the source. This mode of action is clinically proven to be safe and effective for the whole family, even in infants.

Adding to this safety rating is the preservation method used for the probiotics. The probiotics included in Tasectan Duo are preserved using a method called tyndallisation, which involves repeated heating and cooling of the organisms. This process significantly extends the shelf life of the product and improves its safety.

As a result, this revolutionary product range is safe for the entire family. The contents of one Tasectan Duo Paed sachet can be added to yogurt or mixed with a small amount of milk or water for easy administration to young children. Due to its superior safety, Tasectan Duo Paed is safe for use in infants as young as 3 months old.

For children 14 years and older, adults, and the elderly, Tasectan Duo tablets offer a convenient and effective treatment option.

The launch of this product in South Africa promises to bring with it effective and holistic treatment for those suffering from diarrhoea. Tasectan Duo tablets and Tasectan Duo Paed sachets are now available at all leading pharmacies.
