Renishaw Hills on the KZN South Coast set to host the BotSoc Winter Gardens this July!

With its captivating indigenous flora and fauna, immaculate gardens, coastal forests, and biodiverse wetlands, Renishaw Hills in Scottburgh continues to attract the attention of nature lovers. On Saturday, 8 July, everyone will now get a chance to view the stunning grounds of this mature lifestyle village, as Renishaw Hills plays host to the prestigious Botanical Society Winter Gardens.

“We are so looking forward to welcoming the public to Renishaw Hills as we, once again, play host to the highly anticipated Botanical Society Winter Gardens,” commented Jonathan Acutt, Managing Director of Acutts Real Estate. “The design of this in-demand mature lifestyle estate has always prioritised the natural landscape, with sustainability at its heart. Over the years, the gardens have continued to flourish, and winter in Renishaw Hills is a truly spectacular time for visitors to experience the natural beauty.”

A key visionary behind the Renishaw Hills gardens is renowned South African botanist, landscaper, and author of best-selling field guides on wildflowers and trees, Dr Elsa Pooley. She will be conducting the Winter Gardens’ walks within Renishaw Hills, providing specialist tours of the indigenous gardens.

Commenting on the event, Pooley said: “There is a large and varied range of indigenous garden plants found throughout Renishaw Hills that bring in different textures and colours. With winter being Aloe season, visitors will get the chance to see these succulents in brilliant bloom. Winter is also a great time to see the many varieties of butterflies found on the estate.”

Visitors to the Botanical Society Winter Gardens will gain insight into indigenous gardening techniques, the use of South African plants, and what plants to use when. Renishaw Hills will be used as an example of exactly how impactful indigenous planting can be for estates, with benefits in terms of lower water consumption and enhanced biodiversity in the area.
