Located about a block east of IFFV HQs was Rec Beach, and just offshore were two huge Navy tanker-generator ships which provided electric power (4,500 Kilo Watts from each ship) to the entire city (visible in the photo background) (Photo courtesy Wolfgang Scherp). And yes, that is a miniture golf course in the foreground, that is a lifeguard tower, and that is a speedboat towing a water-skier in the background. Life was tough for REMFs in Vietnam.
