PowerShift Talk: A Black Mental Wellness Discussion – a Culture interest event taking place on 2019-09-14 13:00:00 in United States
Trauma can impact intimate relationships in numerous ways. Unhealed trauma can fester and unconsciously affect your mood, relationships, and the way you perceive yourself and capabilities. Ignoring the effects of your traumatic experiences does not make it go away. Time does not necessarily heal all wounds, especially when its unaddressed. Culturally, we are taught to present as strong and unfazed by painful and traumatic experiences. We are rushed into getting back into our normal routine in life and disregard the trauma we experienced. Due to the pressures of our community and society, we force ourselves to pretend we are okay in an effort to not appear weak. Join me and 5 phenomenal speakers on September 14, 2019 as we share our personal stories and how we navigated the trauma we individually experienced. You will hear stories about domestic violence, parental abandonment and neglect, wrongfully accused of sexual assault, loss of ability, childhood abuse, and relational trauma. You will also receive tips and resources from the host and speakers. The topic for the event is "The Impact of Trauma on Intimate Relationships". Admission is free. RSVP to receive your ticket. Meet the Speakers: Nicky Bruyning (@dawnyourconfidence): A radio personality, motivational speaker, and owner of Dawn Your Confidence Shanyah J. Wright (@_mindsandcranes): Marriage & Family Therapist and founder of Minds and Cranes RB Alverna (@theacademy365_inc): Professor and founder of The Academy 365, Inc.
