PetSaver / Pet First Aid & CPR – a Sport interest event taking place on 2017-07-23 08:00:00 in United States
Special Note!!!!!! Classes starting January 1, 2017 have moved to our Canine Sports Park. We are currently under construction and classes initially will be held in our home. What you need to know is our property is an off the grid homestead and Canine Sports Park (Agility, Dock Diving, Herding and Search & Rescue Training) currently under construction. As construction is underway, you may see open/studded walls, insulation, construction lights and a basic concrete floor. For winter classes we heat with wood and do our best to keep the temperature around 70 degrees. We do not have an internet connection but your phones and mobile data should work well in our home. Once you arrive our home is a 1/3 mile off of Pine Street, primarily up hill on a gravel driveway. I recommend dressing as if you we were visiting a farm. With all that said you may also enjoy meeting some of our 2 or 4 legged friends, 6 Nigerian goats, our 4 loved Aussies, 2 cats, 9 Indian Runner ducks, a Guinea hen, and many Jersey Black Giant Hens and Red Bourbon turkeys. Coming in the spring pf 2017 2 pigs and some sheep. And you will also have the advantage of seeing some of the first aid supplies and nutrients I use for my own pets. Classes are rarely if ever cancelled and I have taught classes for only one person. If I have only 1 registrant for a class I will let you know and give you the option of attending the scheduled class or a future class. Please feel free to call with any questions. The Pet Saver / First Aid and CPR program is aproximately 8 hours in length and is the recommended course of instruction and includes all three classes. PetSaver (Approximately 8 hours)(8am – 5:30pm) The PetSaver class includes three seperate programs combined into a one day class. They are: 1. Pet First Aid & CPR (Approximately 5-6 hours)(8am – 2pm) One of the most important and vital items you will learn in this class is the Snout -To-Tail assessment. This skill alone is worth the price of admission Restraining and Muzzling Primary Assessment Rescue Breathing Canine and Feline CPR Choking Management Snout-To-Tail Assessment Assessing the Pet's Vitals Handbook Insect Bites & Stings and snake bites Heat & Cold Injuries Seizure 2. Caring For Your Senior Pet-izen Part of being a caring, conscientious, and responsible and loving pet owner includes helping the pet into its “golden years.” Medically speaking, “old age” for pets is considered a condition and not an illness or disease. There are many preventative measures that you can do now to increase the quality and quantity of your pet’s life as they become “senior pet-izens.” This course will teach you to create a lifestyle for your pet that minimizes the risk of illness, injury and disease and, at the same time, maximizes the quality of their life and your relationship with them. 3. Dental Care For Your Pets Your pet not having their teeth brushed for the first 3 years of their life is equivalent to you not seeing a dentist until you were about 20 years old. Imagine what your mouth would look like, what it would smell like if you didn’t have any dental care for the first 20 years of your life! This course will teach you how to properly brush your pets' teeth, how to recognize the signs of periodontal disease, the four stages of periodontal disease, and what you should do if you suspect your pet has periodontal disease.
