Be welcomed to your guided Nyungar Tours cultural walking tour by a Traditional Owner with a strong family history of ancient customs and traditions in the Perth area. We commence our walk from the South Perth Esplanade Car Park (near the ‘Observation Deck’ on the South Perth Foreshore) and learn about Perth’s Aboriginal heritage and sites of cultural significance from stories passed down through generations. Breathing in the fresh air of the beautiful South Perth Foreshore, overlooking the Perth City skyline and scenic Swan River (or Derbal Yerrigan in Nyungar language), we share traditional stories of Whadjuk Country and the history of the Nyungar people in Perth. Exploring the tranquil oasis of the Scented Gardens with our guides, learn about plants used for bushfoods and medicinal purposes. Touch and feel Aboriginal artefacts used for a range of everyday living tasks in Perth’s Aboriginal past. The history and meaning of ‘Men’s Business’ and ‘Women’s Business’ in Aboriginal culture is explained and we look to the future of sharing Aboriginal cultural awareness with all Australians and visitors to our Country.
