Njoki Extends Her Dominance at Totalsports Women’s Race Cape Town on National Women’s Day

Kenya’s Christine Njoki delivered a commanding performance on Saturday, 09 August 2025, storming to victory at the Totalsports Women’s Race Cape Town in a blistering time of 31:16 in celebration of National Women’s Day and in support of PinkDrive.

Underscoring her dominance on the road, this latest victory comes just one week after Njoki set a new allcomers record at the Totalsports Women’s Race in Durban – mirroring her impressive double win in 2024, when she also claimed top honours in both the Durban and Cape Town races.

While Njoki had hoped for a repeat of Durban’s near-perfect weather, which contributed to a string of exceptional performances, the Mother City had other plans – with clouds looming, yet thankfully the rain held off, allowing an exciting race to unfold.

“The race was enjoyable,” says a very happy Njoki. “I enjoy running. I know the competitors were there, but for me I came here to run my own race. I enjoyed the course and the fans along the road; they were cheering for me. They motivated me on the way. It feels good to run in Cape Town. I knew it was tough, and I prepared mentally for this race. This season I said that I must go there (referring to Cape Town), and I run a good race.”

When asked what message she’d like to share with thousands of runners on National Women’s Day, Njoki replied, “Let’s come together, support each other, motivate each other, and empower women. This has inspired me, and when I return to Kenya, I’ll know that I have motivated women in Cape Town through the Totalsports Women’s Race.”

The first South African to cross the finish line, Karabo More claimed 8th place in a deserving time of 34:05. “It feels great (to be the first South African),” says More. “As soon as I saw the big girls, I was like oh my goodness I’m just here for the time, but I just had to run with the heart. I ran my own race. It feels great to do the Totalsports Women’s Race in Cape Town.”

When asked about the upcoming Totalsports Women’s Race in Joburg, More said: “I’ll run my own race again and try to push to the end.”

“Congratulations to Christine Njoki on a well-earned and inspiring victory,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports. “Well done to the entire elite field for delivering competitive racing of the highest standard. We also extend our deepest appreciation to the 15 000 women who took to the streets of Cape Town today – your energy made this day truly special.

A heartfelt thank you to our sponsors, partners, and all supporters who continue to uplift and empower this incredible platform. We’re proud to celebrate and empower women through sport, and we’re excited to carry this incredible momentum into Johannesburg for the final Totalsports Women’s Race of 2025 on Sunday, 17 August.”

According to Nikki Crous, Head of Marketing at Totalsports, the Totalsports Women’s Race Cape Town was nothing short of spectacular. “Today we enjoyed a powerful celebration of women. From the vibrant energy at the start line to the sea of pink winding through the streets of Cape Town, the atmosphere was truly electric.
We are incredibly proud to have been part of this iconic event that honours the strength, spirit, and resilience of women. A heartfelt thank you to every runner, walker, supporter, and partner who made the day so special. Cape Town – you showed up, and you showed us what it means to #RunUnited. We can’t wait to do it all again next year!”
