A shot of the beach at Pancake Bay in the morning. I took this shot the morning after the last two shots, I got up at 5:45 to shoot the sunrise.
About the Photo
*Camera: Canon EOS Digital Rebel XS *Lens: EF-S 18-55mm ƒ/3.5-5.6 IS *Shutter Speed: 3.2 Sec. *Aperture Value: ƒ/36 *ISO: 100 *Focal Length: 55mm (80mm Equivalent in 35mm Film)
This image is nearly straight out of the camera which is rare for me. All I did was remove dust spots and slightly crop the top of the image to make the composition better, which also had the effect of making the top third of the image nearly appear to be clouds since I removed the horizon from the image the mind has a harder time distinguishing whether they are clouds or waves of water.
I shot this on a tripod using mirror lockup and a remote switch. I used a polarizing filter and a 4X4 Tiffen graduated neutral density 0.6 soft edge filter to darken the upper third of the image to balance the exposure. I had my tripod as low to the ground as possible to help create an interesting composition.
I opened the RAW file in CS4 saved as a 16 bit TIFF file, removed dust spots with healing tools, saved the 16 bit TIFF file, cropped, converted to sRGB colourspace, and saved as a JPEG to upload to the internet.
