s anumber of bones which were found in theKankakee River, five miles west of Walkerton,Indiana. The river is being dredged at thispoint, and the bones were discovered at adepth of from 8 to 12 feet beneath the surface.They were sent to Smithsonian Institute,Washington, D. C, and they report that asnear as can be determined, the bones werethose of a Mammoth, which animal has beenextinct for nearly ten thousand years. Thelarge tooth in the fore part of the pictureweighs nine pounds. A unique Halloween party was given atthe home of Miss Meta Grischke, onOctober 30. The rooms were decorated incolors appropriate to the occasion, whilethe guests arrived in masks. Santa Clauswas there, bringing with him clowns, piratesand ghosts of all descriptions. The eveningwas spent with music and games, prizes havingbeen awarded to E. A. Crow, H. Watkins,Dorothy Brinkman and Vesta Marvin.
