This coal fired electrical generating plant has been out of operation for a few years now. It has long been a feature of the Cape Town landscape. It is planned to be demolished in the future to make way for a new development. During all the power outages in 2006 this station was sorely needed, but the time it would have taken to rail the coal down and get it commissioned again would have taken too long.
