A Cape Town business outsourcing specialist has opened a new multi million Rand contact centre in Diep River with the promise of hundreds of future jobs.
Sigma, which offers call centre services to the energy, utilities and financial services sectors, has unveiled the modern offices in a three-storey converted factory building in Diep River’s Mocke Road.
The company, a subsidiary of Johannesburg headquartered Digicall, currently employs 1,200 employees between the new 4,000 square meter site and its other contact centre facilities in Diep River and Retreat.
The Diep River contact centre will house 500 employees with the company promising more jobs as it grows and wins more contracts in South Africa and abroad.
Sigma’s chief executive Gary Gilburd said: “We have seen a superb period of growth over several years now but we needed a new facility which also gave us space to expand further.
“We are moving 500 employees into what is our third office in the Cape Town area, but that number will be boosted further as we win more contracts. We hope to add hundreds more jobs in the next 12 months as people look to us to manage their contact centre operations.
“Overall, the opening of our second site in Diep River is great news. Not only are we promising more jobs and opportunities, but our investment has converted a former factory building into a stunning, modern office complex which is fit for the future. It’s another milestone in our history here in South Africa.”
Sigma’s services include handling debt recovery calls, customer service queries, complaint and query handling, and inbound and outbound campaigns.
Founded in 2011 by Mr Gilburd and the company’s chief operating officer Mike Harfield, Sigma was purchased by South Africa’s Digicall in 2016 and has gone on to employ a workforce of 3,000 people in contact centres in Birmingham, UK and in Cape Town.
