(COLUMBIA, Mo.) — The Mid-Missouri Pride Fest is back for another year on Park Avenue and Rose Music Hall! This years festival will be headlined by Maxine Nightingale. She is a celebrated and legendary vocalist most known for “Right Back Where We Started From” that reached #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in May 1976. Her hit continues to get lots of traction today as it was featured on the soundtrack CD for the hit movie “Starsky and Hutch” and can be heard in various commercials for Panteen hair conditioner. It is anticipated that Nightingale’s amazing personality and wonderful stage presence will be a can’t miss part of the Mid-Missouri Pridefest event. Nightingale will perform on the pridefest stage located in the adjoining park space owned by Rose Music Hall, called Forrest Park.
Mid-Missouri Pridefest has taken place since 2004, and the family-friendly event will take place on Saturday, August 27 this year. Festival organizers will be sharing the full entertainment schedule at a later date on their website, but were pleased to share that the crowd favorite drag show will remain a staple. Pridefest committee members also reminded supporters that booth spaces and sponsorships fill up fast, but as of the BBQ, opportunities still exist to get involved.
Mid-Missouri PrideFest is an event put together by the Mid-Missouri LGBT Coalition, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. MidMo PrideFest is one of the last free community events in the area thanks to the support of individuals and businesses. For more information, visit www.midmopride.org.
