Music director of Italy’s Zenith 2000 Ensemble Massimo Testa makes his American conducting debut in a program featuring two of Metro’s own virtuoso soloists, principal harpist Melody Genin and violinist Garry Ianco. Ms Genin a graduate of the Paris Conservator and beginning her 4 season as Principal Harp of the Metro Chamber Orchestra will perform Ernst Dohnanyi's Concertino for Harp and Chamber Orchestra. Ms. Genin is building a fine reputation as a harp soloist and this wonderful 20th century piece showcases her virtuosic ability.. Violinist Garry Ianco, who recently returned from a two year tour as concertmaster and conductor of The Phantom of the Opera joins Maestro Testa in Leonard Bernstein’s .Serenade after Plato's "Symposium" This rarely performed work is truly a tour de force for orchestra, harp, and solo violin. Maestro Testa concludes the program with another rarely heard 20th century gem, Benjamin Britten’s Variations on a theme of Frank Bridge.
