Me and My Mentor: Two senior business leaders discuss their journey as mentor and mentee

Me and My Mentor: Two senior business leaders discuss their journey as mentor and mentee – a Africa interest event taking place on 2018-05-23 16:30:00 in Australia

Verity Leadership is very proud to present a unique event that will provide insights into a critical mentoring relationship between Senior Executive and Director Jez Smith and CEO and non-executive Director Dr Kirsten Molloy. Jez is the Chief Scientist of Orica, leading and directing innovation and research and development in one of Australia’s top 30 companies and the Global leader in the supply of blasting related mining services. Jez has more than 36 years’ experience in the fields of R&D, Marketing, Commercial Management, Planning and Operations associated with Explosives and Blasting Technology. He joined what was then ICI, and which became Orica, in 1980 and has worked in South Africa, Canada, Australia, Germany and Singapore. Kirsten Molloy is CEO of HVCCC, as well as a non-executive Director on the boards of HMRI, Hunter H2O and Regional Development Australia (RDA) Hunter. Prior to her CEO role, Kirsten had a successful career at Orica, commencing in R&D on Orica’s graduate program, then working through a series of technical and commercial roles, ultimately running one of the largest and most profitable business units in Orica.  Kirsten considers Jez one of her foremost mentors, as well as a sponsor and coach, throughout the course of her career at Orica. Jez and Kirsten will discuss the importance of mentoring, the role mentoring played, what they both think a good mentoring relationship looks like and what the most important aspects of the mentoring relationship are. Kirsten and Jez will also welcome questions from attendees to support the best possible understanding of mentoring and its role. To have two successful executives reflect on what worked, what didn’t and what was most important from the perspectives of both mentor and mentee will be a unique, informative and engaging discussion.
