Labels are for Things, not Kids Workshop presented by author Zelna Lauwrens in Johannesburg, South Africa – a South Africa interest event taking place on 2016-04-21 18:30:00 in South Africa
Join author, Zelna Lauwrens for her workshop based on her upcoming book "Labels are for Things, Not Kids – The Secret to becoming a World-Class Kids Life Coach" Her journey started as a novice teacher in a classroom attic. At the time, she didn’t realize that she would work with Street children, Dying mothers, Victims of Child Trafficking, Sexually abused girls, the spoilt kids of Foreign Diplomats, Bipolar teens, Violent Delinquents, kids diagnosed with ADHD & Autism as well as Mentally & Physically challenged kids. Zelna believes that no matter the negative label that a child or adult is given, they can overcome their circumstances and pursue their dreams with hope. Perhaps you have been labelled or you know a child or another adult that has been labelled. In fact, Zelna herself, has been labelled as a Childless, Bipolar Perfectionist that is a Germ Phobe that eats too much chocolate. She has been depressed, suicidal and admitted to Psychiatric wards, but she didn't give up because children gave her hope. Zelna's vision is to see a world where labels are not an indication of a child's true potential, but where every child no matter their background, circumstances or abilities is seen as a leader. If you want to be part of the solution, and learn the skills to coach children to a life of purpose and passion, then this workshop is for you. Who is this workshop for? This workshop is for EVERY ADULT because we all come into contact with children in varying degrees. It is our responsibility as contributors to our world, to impact positively on every child that we meet. This workshop is perfect for anybody who works with children in an educational, coaching or therapeutic setting. Such as: Teachers Social Workers Parents Counsellors and Psychologists Occupational Therapists Community or Charity Volunteers Life Coaches and Mentors What is this workshop about? Becoming an expert at anything takes hours of practice and dedication but when it comes to children, there is no time to spare. With an epidemic of negative influences we need to act with urgency and zeal to enable children’s labels. In reality, the words 'Kids Life Coach' and 'World-Class' cannot be separated because when influencing a child's future, there is no room for mediocrity. This workshop is based on Zelna's own personal experiences working with a wide spectrum of children. Over the past 20 years, working with over 9500 kids, she has been seeing more and more problems in children and teenagers developing. Our children with “problems” are easily labelled sometimes with too much emphasis on diagnosis and often little emphasis on what to practically do about it. In this workshop, she will share her trade secrets that can guide you to becoming a World-Class Kids Life Coach to the children you want to guide and mentor. Why should you attend this workshop? World-Class might not mean being the best in the world, but what it does mean is being the best in the world for that child you are influencing. You see, we don't yet know the extent and reach of our influence, so every child no matter their circumstances, deserves to be uplifted in the same way. They need mentorship, guidance and unconditional love and acceptance but what they need most of all is YOU as their mentor, role model and guide. What are the outcomes if you attend this workshop? We are all active creators of our world, shaping it, moulding it and guiding it to a space of healing, love and peace. After attending this workshop, you will leave with: A toolkit that can be adapted and easily applied in any context Solutions that focus on strengthening rather than fixing A practical recipe for educating, motivating and inspiring children The steps to enable children's lables no matter their background, circumstances or abilities Easy to apply Kids Coaching techniques The true definition of what it means to be a World-Class Kids Life Coach “As she lifted her skirt seductively and wriggled her way onto the lap of the boy with the glazed eyes, I knew in that moment that I was out of my depth. In an inner city London school my classroom was a dusty, dirty, discarded attic, testimony to the fact that the kids I was expected to teach were considered worthless. The seductive ‘lap dance’ by this 12-year old girl made my heart break instantaneously and along with this, my confidence too.” (Book excerpt – Labels are for things, not Kids – The secret to becoming a World-Class Kids Life Coach by Zelna Lauwrens)
