Clover Mama Afrika’s Mama Feziwe Gambo from KwaZulu-Natal started her centre, House-Kids Educare Centre in 2010 when she was part of a church community project and saw far too many children under the age of four who were left unattended. She now cares for 357 children between the age of three months and seven years-old at the centre. Her outreach programme also includes caring for 30 elderly members. Her centre is located in Ezimbokodweni in KZN.
After the recent Something from Nothing training course, Mama Feziwe Gambo from Amanzimtoti arrived home and was ready to get to work! Since she is keen to use her new cooking skills, her new four-plate electrical hob with glass top she recently received from Clover Mama Afrika came in very handy at her centre. She got to work and prepared all the dishes she’d learnt to make and invited her personnel and family for dinner. For Mama Feziwe, it was wonderful to hear all the compliments on her food, and to share a meal with her staff too of course!
“Clover Mama Afrika is pleased to have been able to assist and help Mama Feziwe and we hope to taste her cooking made on the new addition to her kitchen very soon!” says Prof Elain Vlok, Clover Manager, Clover Mama Afrika Trust.
Mama Feziwe is very active in her community and makes sure that there is always something happening at her centre. Over the past few months Mama Feziwe did some training with some of the youngsters at her centre and taught them how to bake big cakes and decorate it AND bake biscuits properly too. She always goes above and beyond for the members of her community, making sure that they are learning something that they can implement in their own lives too when they go home.
Mama Feziwe is a true role model to those in her community and takes her position seriously wanting to empower the youth that she sees and deals with on a daily basis. She is currently also the chairperson of the Umbumbulu ECD Association with 55 members that she manages (ladies – young and old) and is the secretary of Umbumbulu NPO Forum with an additional 99 members under her care.
