Junior Jam – a Africa interest event taking place on 2019-04-27 11:00:00 in United Kingdom

Junior Jam – our jam-packed music sessions for 4-8 year olds! With an exciting theme each month – from Space Travel to Loop the Loop – help your little ones develop their musical skills in a fun, friendly and accessible way. Sessions are free and take place at the Children’s Library at Manchester Central Library. Places are limited (20 children per session) so sign up in advance to secure your spot. Two 50-minute sessions will take place at 10am and 11am. All instruments are provided. Sat 27 Apr – Junk Percussion Make music out of rubbish – dig deep into your recycling so we can make a junk percussion orchestra together! (Participants should ideally bring one or two small things they could use as a basis for their instrument – a juice carton, empty cereal box or plastic bottle would be perfect!) Sat 25 May – Ceilidh Traditional Scottish dance led by Kabantu’s very own Edinburgh-born violinist Katie Foster. Dance the steps and learn the energetic music of this Scottish form of barn-dancing! Sat 13 Jul – African Voices Kabantu’s Abel Selaocoe will take you through children’s songs from his home nation of South Africa, known around the world for their incredible singing and harmonies. About Kabantu Kabantu are a quintet of award-winning musicians and music educators, known for their infectious rhythms and beautiful melodies from around the globe. About Noisy Toys Noisy Toys are all about having fun experimenting with sound. They deliver workshops, events and interactive installations connecting science and music together in new ways, including creating amazing instruments out of old computers that people have thrown away. Delivered in partnership with Manchester Central Library and supported by Youth Music as part of the Alliance for a Musically Inclusive England.
