Integrated Combatives for Concealed Carry (16 hours) – a Sport interest event taking place on 2020-11-14 09:00:00 in United States
Course syllabis: This combatives course features 16 hours of training time spread over two days, 4 hours on the range and 12 hours in the gym. You will learn: Pre-assault indicators Contact and distance management In fight weapon access Controlling assailant(s) and denying them weapon access Fighting in and around structures or confined spaces Defensive tactics/combatives are rarely practiced in shooting courses, yet in real world scenarios the integration of the two is necessary. They say, "life and death is in the gaps", this course fills those gaps. Teaching concealed carriers how to combine combative skills with weapon manipulation and integration with fast and accurate shooting. These skills are tested by time and in force on force scenarios. Your skills will be pressure tested with simunitions on the range, and gloves and pads in the gym. Most CCW events happen in very close quarters. After you're done with this course you'll know how to retain, deploy, and use your firearm in those close quarters using a combination of Jiu Jitsu, Muay Tai, and other specially designed movements. The course curriculum can be adapted for individuals of any body type so it isn't necessary to be in incredibly good shape to attend the course. Important note: This course is aimed at the concealed carrier but can be easily adapted to LEO needs as well. Required equipment: Serviceable semi-automatic pistol (9mm or larger caliber). Ported firearms are NOT allowed. 3-5 magazines of 10 round capacity (minimum). Quality belt with strong-side or appendix concealment holster & magazine pouch. Serpa holsters or similar holsters that use the trigger finger to deactivate a retention device are NOT allowed. Be able to retain 2 magazines on your body. 400 rounds of dependable ammunition (minimum). No steel core and no steel jacket, no armor-piercing, no tracer. Knee pads (optional). Eye protection, hearing protection (electronic recommended) and a baseball cap. Mouth and groin protection for the gym is recommended. Extra loose fitting sweatshirt and pants recommended. Gloves recommended. Positive attitude. Open mind. He has provided integrated training solutions for national and multinational military services. As a civilian John taught for various private organizations providing training for service members, law enforcement, and every day Americans. He also served as an assistant instructor to Matt Larsen while training special mission and intelligence units for several years. As a competitor John is an international submission grappling medalist with experience in Mixed Martial Arts, Boxing, and competitive shooting. As a student John holds a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Army Combatives, both under Matt Larsen. He has attended over 600 hours of formal training in firearms and combatives to go along with over a decade of martial arts training. John is a Rangemaster certified firearms instructor, a Matt Larsen certified Army Combatives instructor, RDS Instructor certified by the Modern Samurai Project, Red Zone Empty Hand Knife Defense Instructor, and UTM LE Trainer. John is a concealed carry license holder since 2013 and has experience with various carry methods, equipment, and applications. John is also a contributor and podcast host for Spotter Up.
