Infestation – a Africa interest event taking place on 2017-05-16 00:00:00 in United Kingdom
Part One of The Squirrel Plays A young couple, who are definitely not "squirrel people", move into a suburban home, but quickly find that the house has an unwelcome critter in the attic. Now they must decide what to do: to exterminate or not exterminate? In this dark comedy by Mia McCullough, the unwanted squirrel in the house becomes a metaphor for the real issue dividing the couple: having children. Mia McCullough is a Chicago-based playwright whose works have been featured at theatres around the United States. The Squirrel Plays have received staged readings around the US, most recently at Chicago Dramatists. Addressing the pain of some of America's most pressing problems with both emotional truth and absurdist humour, Mia McCollough's dark comedy makes its world premiere at the Space. Praise for Mia McCullough: "McCullough has a strong gift for the apt metaphor, as well as the operatically grotesque/comic visual…Ultimately, McCullough's intelligent, probing and compassionate play leaves us with a disquieting sense that humans have commodified the business of death for millennia." – Chagrin Falls, Chicago Tribune "McCullough's dialogue is straightforward but often contains vivid depictions of tenderness and terror that occur offstage to great effect" – Since Africa, Theater Pizzazz Presented by Part of the Main Productions Directed by Jessica Bickel-Barlow
