Hehas taken his share in the building and conduct of the Tabernacle, College,Almshouses, and Orphanage ; and all in so quiet and unobtrusive a manner that hehas been always more useful than prominent, more felt than heard. God grant thatsuch helpers may long be spared to us ! Mr. Passmore was spared to his beloved Pastor, and was one of the sincerestand deepest mourners when Mr. Spurgeon was called home on January 3/, 1S92. 174 H. SPURGEON S AUTOBIOGRAPHY. In the following November, his partner and close personal friend for forty years, Mr.Alabaster, also received the summons, Come up higher; on August i, 1895, themessage came for Mr. Passmore ; and on January 31, 1896, Mrs. Passmore rejoinedthe loved ones in the presence of the King. It was Mr. Spurgeons intention to include in his Atitobiography illustrationsof the buildings in which his works were printed and published. Accordingly, theaccompanying view has been prepared.

For several years, the printing was done in the premises represented on theright-hand side of the picture; but this year—1898—the firm has erected newbuildings in Whitecross .Street. The publishing and sale of the works were formany years carried on at 23, and 18, Paternoster Row, and now that portion of thebusiness has its headquarters at 4, Paternoster Buildings, which is represented onthe left-hand side of the illustration.)
