Global March For Elephants, Rhinos and Lions – a South Africa interest event taking place on 2016-09-24 12:30:00 in United States
Trumpet, Horn and Roar in Solidarity! March for Elephants, Rhinos and Lions! Join The Bayou Herd in New Orleans in Front of Saints and Sinners on Bourbon Street at 12:30pm on September 24th as we march with over 120 cities worldwide. There will be free wrist bands and live jazz music. We encourage everyone to participate this year, as this is a critical year for the wildlife. We will be marching on the OPENING DAY OF COP17 which is taking place in Johannesburg South Africa. We are demanding Appendix 1 for Elephants, Rhinos, Lions and more throughout the continent of Africa. The COP17 is the 17th meeting of the Conference of the Parties, the world’s largest and most influential meeting on international wildlife trade. Every day close to 100 Elephants are being illegally killed for their Ivory Tusks. A Rhino is being killed illegally ever 8 hours for their Horn. And the number of Lions left in the wild has decreased by 50% in the past 20 years due to trophy hunting and demand for their Bones. These species are very close to extinction. We must spread awareness and be their voice by asking others to never purchase ivory, horn, or bones. We must ask our law makers to put a stop to all wildlife trade and sales. And we must put an end to trophy hunting and canned lion hunting! By having these species listed under Appendix 1 it provides the greatest degree of protection.
