Johannesburg, South Africa – In the spirit of giving back, Rookie USA SA hosted its annual handover celebration with local charity Lighthouse baby shelter this past Saturday, 21 January.
Rookie USA SA has always been committed to being more than just a fashion brand; by collaborating with local South African influencer kids and their parents, the brand was able to raise a sum of R50 000 to support the shelter in whatever they may need.
The Lighthouse Baby Shelter was founded in 2008 by Eleanor Dustan who has always been passionate about children. The shelter cares for newborns and children from birth who have been neglected or abused by previous families.
“It was my calling to take in abandoned babies and children and create a place they can call home, where they can grow, learn and have a place to come back to when needed. The lighthouse shelter isn’t an institution, it’s a home with a mother that disciplines, that teaches them responsibility, that loves, and aims to help them grow to become responsible adults.” Lighthouse founder Eleanor Dustan.

Rookie USA SA finds the experience of being able to give back to the community heartwarming as they always strive to make a difference in the lives of children and organizations in South Africa.
