South Africa, Cape Town, 14 September 2021 – As a long-term partner of culinary excellence, S.Pellegrino continues to be close to restaurants and the world it loves. A world that, over the years, has contributed in making S.Pellegrino an authentic, globally renowned Italian icon. As part of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2021 (3rd – 5th October), the premium sparkling water brand is proud to present “Food Meets Talent”, an event that explores the concept of talent and highlights its crucial role in shaping the future of gastronomy.
Taking place on 4th October at 11:30am CET, this will be the fourth edition of “Food Meets Talent”, which S.Pellegrino launched in 2018 with the theme “Food Meets Art”. Its goal is to create an inspiring space for sharing opinions, best practice and insight regarding the evolution of the gastronomy industry.
During the two-hour event, the talent will be the protagonist, interpreted by local artists and deepened by expert opinions in the culinary scene, according to their experiences and perspectives:
- Part 1 “If I knew then what I know now…” – Clare Smyth, Ana Ros? and Micha Tsumura will be involved as mentors, telling poignant stories about their journeys as chefs, and giving advice to the next generation, delivered as a letter to their former selves;
- Part 2 “Meet the next generation” – the successful young talents Adelaide Lala Tam (50 Next), Kurt Evans (Champions of Change), and Mark Moriarty (2015 S.Pellegrino Young Chef Award Winner) will share their personal stories, inspiring the audience with insight, learnings, and emotion from their professional paths;
- Part 3 “How to hack your own talent, by Heston Blumenthal” – in this keynote talk, Blumenthal, who is a member of the Best of the Best group of elite chefs, will explore how everyone has the potential to improve their skills, offering actionable examples of how to succeed in doing so;
- Part 4 “Tasting Talent” – Paolo Griffa and Manon Schenck will show off their culinary expertise by preparing canapés for the guests, influenced by the dishes that have so far defined their career as chefs;
Stefano Bolognese, Sanpellegrino International Business Unit Director, says: “We are proud to be among the protagonists of The World’s 50 Best programme that will allow the global gastronomic community to reconnect in person, share experiences, celebrate resilience and brilliance, and ultimately help boost the restaurant sector. A sector that today, more than ever, needs revolutionary ideas to be able to face the upcoming challenges. For this reason we developed our ‘Food Meets Talent’ event as an inspiring space dedicated to the concept of human talent, a coveted asset especially in times of uncertainty. Promoting talent means investing in the future of gastronomy and of the whole society”.
For the 15th consecutive year S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna will work together with The World’s 50 Best Restaurants organization to recognize and promote restaurants and culinary talents, which is now more important than ever. As part of this year’s collaboration, the two iconic Italian brands collaborated to announce the release of a brand-new initiative called Champions of Change, highlighting a small number of unsung heroes who have used the extraordinary events of the last 18 months as a springboard for positive action.
Food Meets Talent is one of the key elements of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants programme of gastronomic activity in the host region, including significant regular events such as thought-leadership forum #50BestTalks and the Chefs’ Feast, which will complement the gala awards.
Key moments and events will also be accessible via digital media to ensure all those unable to join in person do not miss out. Full details of the programme will be available on the S.Pellegrino webpage and on the 50 Best webpage.
