lack of maps and details and photos doesnt seem to make a good guide for anyone?,
Thus this Fodors guide and also the Eye Witness Guide seem to be stranded in the middle with Fodors the worse of these two. At least the Eye Witness guide has nice glossy pages, a few inset maps and lots of colour photos and little cut away diagrams of some of the famous buildings and places to see etc, but this Fodors basically has no maps besides that large scale district maps at the start of each chapter and the the text is so slim that it misses lots places listed in other guides (such as Mokala NP in the Karoo I am visiting). I really struggle to see which target group of tourists this guide is designed for? If seemed a bit concentrated towards luxury accommodation and expensive fine dining to suggest it was trying for rich rather than budget/independent tourists travelling by car rather than flying everywhere but i suspect most rich tourists likely to be on an organised trip and thus would be better served by the glossy Insight Guide with its lots of photos rather than listed places to stay etc?
