Documenting the Sounds of Africa: Archiving, Instruments, and Researching the Local Symposium Celebrating the Re-opening of the UCLA Ethnomusicology Archive and Honoring the Work of Jacqueline Cogdell DjeDje “Documenting the Sounds of Africa” celebrates the re-opening of the UCLA Ethnomusicology Archive after the recent renovations. It is also a way to honor Professor Emerita Jacqueline Cogdell DjeDje, who was Director of the UCLA Ethnomusicology Archive from 2000 to 2007, and whose work has focused on African-American and African music. The symposium will feature paper panels, a keynote by Jacqueline Cogdell DjeDje, and a concert of music from Africa and the diaspora. We will also have an open house to show off the newly re-designed Archive rooms. Please save the date. Further details will be forthcoming.
