Dating Goes Back to Basics with Voice APP:
A South African-developed mobile dating app is proving a hit with thousands of installs monthly and growing.
“South Africans excel at using existing technologies in new ways. Voicy takes the voice notes we’ve got used to on chat platforms and turns them into a quick and easy way to meet people on the move,” says Jonathan Golovey of Johannesburg-based mobile applications developer, Rate ‘n Date Mobile. The company is already an established player in the mobile dating space.
By downloading the free Voicy app from Google Play, mobile users with Android devices will be able to immediately start browsing the dating profiles of people around them. This homegrown app then enables users to transmit voice notes to people who interest them.
“Just when the mobile industry thought voice was dead and text was emerging as king, voice notes began making their presence felt amongst users of over-the-top (OTT) services like WhatsApp. The swing to voice notes presents an ideal opportunity to introduce the human voice back into the world of dating,” explains Golovey.
When people connect, voice notes help keep the interaction going because they are quick and easy to compose. They also help people determine right from the start of the initial contact if someone really is for them.
While it is available on the Play Store right now, development is continuing to further streamline the user experience.
Users can login using their Facebook credentials, the app is free to download with zero in-app charges. Voicy currently enjoys an average user rating of 4 out of 5 stars on the Google Play Store.
“Voice has feeling, textures and layers that can’t be replicated by text, no matter how many emoticons are used,” concludes Golovey.
