Cyrus Chestnut: African Reflections – a Culture interest event taking place on 2016-05-07 20:00:00 in United States
Saturday, May 07, 2016 @ 8:00 PM
Pianist Cyrus Chestnut's hard swinging, soulful sounds have become a staple in the jazz community. Blending contemporary and traditional jazz and gospel, plus the occasional seasonings of Latin and samba, Chestnut's prowess as a soloist has led him to become a "first call" pianist in big bands including the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. His new program filters jazz through the rich music and rhythms of Africa.
