Cultural Kaleidoscope – a Culture interest event taking place on 2016-04-29 00:00:00 in United States
Culture matters! Exposing our students to other cultures in ways that create lasting impressions and understandings has never been more important. That is why the Sturgis Area Arts Council is once again bringing the Cultural Kaleidoscope to both the children and adults of our community.
The Arts Council has sponsored the Russian, Australian, and Irish Kaleidoscopes in recent years. On Friday, April 29th, the Arts Council will sponsor the fourth program in this series, the Ukrainian Kaleidoscope.
Sergei Shapoval will take the students on a cultural ad-venture to Ukraine, one of the leading farming, industrial and mining regions in Europe. This "Breadbasket of the common-wealth of Independent States" is rich in music and dance. Sergei will share traditional music, instruments and costumes plus objects that offer a look at both traditional and modern daily life in Ukraine.
The public is encouraged to come either of the two FREE one-hour performances, one at 8:45am and one at 12:20pm. im the Sturgis Community Center Theater. The morning performance might offer the best opportunity for great seating. Don't miss this chance for a wonderful combination of engagement and education by an expert and experienced entertainer.
