Just went to see the movie ‘district 9’. Heard great stories about it. Actually know one of the actors. South African actors. Yes, it is a good movie (not my kind of movie though) and I think it will be a major international hit BUT i wonder what the underlying message is supposed to be and curious about the reasoning behind the movie … If the producer indeed wants to make the reference to South African history, apartheid, displacements of blacks, white and blacks,…..yes I think that the underlying message can then be understood by South Africans….but I do not think that this movie wakes up the international public in a way that triggers them to fight injustice, wake up and see what races do to each other, how we alienate other cultures. I was hoping the movie would have that effect…
yeah for Umthombo. We’ll spread the message in a positive way. Looking at what is possible when different cultures work together in harmony.
