Check out this South African Politics image:
in the shadow of Marx in life and in death

Karl Marx’s grave gets so many visitors that still leave flowers (and fruits and eggs, which I’m sure means something) that there are actually rubbish bins on either side of it to throw out things like the flower’s plastic wrapping.
But surely the biggest thing a Marx admirer can do is to buy one of the plots nearest to him in the cemetery to be buried in (or have their family do the same). There’s only one grave right next to that of Marx – a West Indian dissident who died in the 1960s – but immediately across are dozens of graves much like this one.
This grave is actually part of a mini-cemetery populated almost entirely by Iraqi dissidents, mostly communists, who died in exile in London. But there are also graves of people like the former leader of the South African Communist Party.
These graves occupy an entire hill much like Poet’s Corner in Westminster Abbey. And most of them are extremely well maintained. I play no politics with this grave. I just think it summed up the general feel of those around it.
