hat God has puthonour upon the Wesley family, it has been the desire of thewriter of this work to show in what various ways God has mani-fested His lovingkindness to them in their lives, their sufferings, and in their posterity. If we look at the life-work of the Wesleysin its widely extended influence over the world, or if we look attheir descendants, so far as they are known, we are constrainedto say, as the Founder of Methodism himself said when dying, The best of all is, God is with us! The portraits forming the frontispiece are authentic likenesses, and are copies of originals which are scarce and valuable. The author acknowledges his indebtedness to the biographiesof the Wesleys written by Dr. Adam Clarke and the Kev. LukeTyerman. For important aid in preparing the pedigree of thefamily, he cheerfully accords his thanks to the Eev. LewisHerbert Wellesley-Wesley, rector of Hatchford, and the Eev.John P. Johnson, of Wood Green. G. J. STEVENSON. Paternoster Row, London,January, 1876.
