President Jacob Zuma lays a wreath at the prison cell, in Kgosi Mapuru II Correctional Service Centre in which the Liberation struggle hero Mr Stephen Bantu Biko died as part of commemorating the 40th Anniversary of the passing of the Black Consciousness Movement leader. Mr Biko died in 12 September 1977 in a police cell at the then Pretoria Central Prison (now Kgosi Mampuru II Correctional Centre).
