Community, Culture and Collaborations ~ 8th Biennial K’gari Conference – a Culture interest event taking place on 2019-08-31 09:00:00 in Australia
Fraser Island is a World Heritage site that warrants ongoing monitoring because of its Outstanding Universal Value and fragility. It is a natural laboratory for a wide range of environmental and cultural studies, the results of which need to be communicated to the public because better appreciation fosters better care and management. This year FIDO teams up with the Butchulla Aboriginal Corporation and the University of the Sunshine Coast to deliver the conference. The Keynote speaker is author and wilderness advocate Steve Biddulph. Other speakers include Dr. Fiona Foley, Dr. Bradley Smith, Christine Royan, Dr. Gabriel Conroy, Rose Barrowcliffe, Prof. Jamie Schulmeister, Rowan Foley and Dr. Ian Muirhead who will cover a wide range of topics. The day will wrap up with a Q & A panel. Posters of research and projects will be available for viewing and discussion during the breaks.
