CommScope Introduces RUCKUS ICX Switches for Next Generation Networks:
CommScope has announced the local availability of its new switches to support next-generation network edge and aggregation/core requirements. RUCKUS ICX switches work together to simplify network set-up and management, enhance security, minimise troubleshooting and facilitate upgrades to deliver high-performance switching capabilities that meet current and future network demands.
“Enterprise networks have evolved from being utilities used by a limited selection of employees within an organisation to become mission-critical infrastructure that supports almost every business function,” says Riaan Graham, Director Enterprise at CommScope sub-Saharan Africa. “The services that networks support are now central to the operation of every function, manufacturing data, stock control, accounting records, customer order management, or simply voice and video communication. Everything depends on the network. If the network is going to keep up with the demands of business it must be fast, flexible and secure, but most of all it must be optimised for both performance and cost.”
CommScope has a long history of innovation in networking, driving the technology forward to offer ever greater levels of performance and efficiency and evolving solutions to meet emerging requirements. RUCKUS ICX switches are designed to deliver the performance of a chassis system in a compact, flexible package that allows organizations to add switches as needed.
Speaking at the event last week, Graham said that wireless applications are growing substantially across Africa and have become critical to unlocking new opportunities and business models. “As more wireless users access cloud and data-intensive applications on their devices, the demand for high-speed, resilient edge networks continues to increase. Couple this with the integration of high performance ICX switching and innovative networking—it makes for a compelling path for businesses in 2021 and beyond.”
Arthur Goldstuck, CEO of World Wide Worx who participated as part of the panel discussion said: “We expect exponential growth in demand for digital services, across both the consumer and enterprise landscape. This will put massive pressure on networks to be responsive, fast and with no lag in connectivity between the data centre and the edge. That, in turn, requires a new generation of switching equipment, far beyond simply linking computers with printers and the like. Businesses need to be prepared for this future rather than reacting to it.”
The innovative technology behind ICX switches captures all these requirements, enabling users to scale and future-proof their network infrastructure including high-density 802.11ac / 802.11ax Wi-Fi deployments, UHD video streaming, line rate encryption and single point of management to meet the increasing demand of wired and wireless network requirements.
Designed to meet the most demanding technical and commercial requirements, the RUCKUS ICX portfolio of edge switches allow the creation of highly scalable and reliable networks that ensure that every enterprise is equipped to support the most demanding applications. And when combined with innovative solutions enterprises can build highly converged networks while minimising operational overheads.
In additional to the full portfolio of switches, CommScope launched the RUCKUS ICX 7550 enterprise campus switch series, a new collection of fixed form-factor, multigigabit Ethernet switches that powers simple, secure and scalable high-performance network underlays. As an edge switch, the ICX 7550 is ready to support any Wi-Fi 6, application or IoT device requirement. As a fibre-enabled aggregation/core switch, the ICX 7550 delivers industry-best port density and uplink capability. The new series is the latest addition to the complete portfolio of RUCKUS ICX access, aggregation and core switches, all of which can be managed as part of a converged cloud-managed, or on-premises-managed network.
“Integration of ICX into the RUCKUS wireless solutions will provide greater opportunities for automation and network visibility and will be critical to providing the high-performance wired edge networks that tomorrow’s wireless devices will demand. The new switch series is the latest example of how CommScope helps its customers stay ahead of the networking curve. It’s about building a network foundation that’s ready for the future whenever businesses are – and African businesses are certainly ready,” concludes Graham.
