The ship ran aground off Bloubergstrand in September 2009, and contained around 30,000 tons of coal, 600 tons of heavy fuel oil and 60 tons of diesel. Due to weather damage, the cargo ship is damaged beyond repair.
On the 3rd of June 2010, A fire is thought to have started in the staff quarters, where cutting and welding was taking place sparking a fire.
Due to the ship’s ireparable state, the authorities were not concerned about the fire, and let the blaze take its course through the ship, waiting for it to burn out.
