Table Mountain is a flat topped mountain forming a prominent landmark overlooking the city of Cape Town in South Africa. It is a significant tourist attractions and forms part of the Table Mountain National Park. The level plateau, from which it derives its name, is flanked by Devils Peak to the east and Lions Head to the west. Together with Signal Hill this forms a natural amphitheatre of the City Bowl and harbour.

Cape Town was name the World Design Capital for 2014 and was named as the best place in the world to visit in the same year by The New York Times and The Telegraph. The first European settlement of the Cape started in 1652 when Jan van Riebeek arrived to establish a shipping outpost for the Dutch East India Company.
