Bidvest Laundry Group Uses Green Technology
In 2010 the Bidvest Laundry Group interpreted their relatively high emission rate as a challenge to upgrade all of their practices to an environmentally sustainable standard. With an eye to the future, they are absolutely committed to the success their clients’ businesses and to that end, sustainable use of environmental resources.
These practices and processes are now fully entrenched in Bidvest Laundry Group’s philosophy:
- Heat Exchangers
Heat Exchangers retain heat from used hot water and transfer it to incoming water, thereby reducing energy consumption by 12 percent.
- Power Factor Corrections
Power Factor Correction equipment manages electrical power and ensures energy efficiency.
- Water plants and Borehole Water
Some of our factories are equipped with boreholes. The available supply of borehole water is contingent on the level of seasonal rainfall, but has provided more energy efficiency and long-term economic savings
- Water Heating
Newly-installed heat pumps save electricity on water heating, provides water to the system at 50 degrees Centigrade where the source is between 10 and 25 degrees Centigrade.
- Lighting
Energy-saving light fixtures are used by many of their branches. Bidvest Laundry Group continue to install such fixtures in other branches.
- Variable Speed Driver (VSD) Conversion
VSD technology regulates boiler motor speed thereby maximising coal efficiency. It also enhances ironing and finishing for their clients’ laundry.
- Fuel Control Measures
Fuel control devices monitor the amount of fuel used by our fleet of trucks. The vehicles are also fitted with the Bidtrack system which monitors excessive acceleration and braking, speeding infractions, unscheduled stops and length of client visits.
The Future
Bidvest Laundry Group recognizes that protection of the environment is as important as economic success. They’ve already implemented numerous green policies, and constantly monitor their use of natural resources and improve their methods as indicated.
